Is this a normal window of time for a service call?

I’m have a bad back-up battery on my ADT security system and have placed a service call. The best they could do is tell me that the serviceman would be here somewhere from 12 to 5 and no they cannot have him call when he is on his way. Not only that but they charge a $25 trip fee (?) to have someone come out and work on their faulty equipment. Is this normal for them to have a five hour window of time? I hate that I had to take half day off from work and waste it sitting here at home waiting on ADT who by the way has some real dummies working in the customer service department. Seriously, I cannot wait to get out of my contract with ADT.
